Within the FitBizkids program of social enterprise Fawaka Ondernemersschool, children take on the challenge of starting their own sustainable catering business and making the most tasteful responsible dishes. This way they learn what healthy eating and exercise is. Stichting Goede Grutten helps to develop the existing program (for BSO’s) into a version for schools, so that children from all walks of life are reached.
Wortelschieten
Wortelschieten is an educational programme of the Foundation de Eetschap, in which New Dutch (uprooted) together with MBO-ers in Agri&Food (rooted) work on food issues. In the new third edition in Dordrecht, in 2021 we will work together with Drechtsstadsboer and the growing of new local crops will take centre stage. www.heteetschap.nl/wortelschieten
Snack bar Chew on it
Snack bar Chew on it uses illusion to influence people’s eating habits. In the mobile snack bar (cart) two iconic snacks are sold, in a vegetable variant: the hamburger and the hot dog. What happens when you change the shape? Will visitors go for a large or small variant? They look different, but they’re equal. The Fruit and Vegetable Brigade
The Fruit and Vegetable brigade combats food waste by saving fruit and vegetables and delivering them to food banks. It collects, sorts, packages and distributes potato, fruit and vegetable products. A first location is located in Poeldijk. Stichting Goede Grutten supports the creation of a second distribution centre in Venlo, which will be officially opened in 2021. www.groentefruitbrigade.nl
Duiner Films& Formats
Stichting Goeie Grutten has supported the production of a documentary about Herenboeren. Herenboerderijen are cooperative small-scale, mixed farms that are co-owned by non-farmers. These farms produce demand-driven sustainable, healthy and palatable food. www.herenboeren.nl
Wageningen University
In a multi-disciplinary project at Wageningen University experts research using water lentils (duckweed) as a green and high-quality protein source for food. The biomass of duckweed grows fast and water lentils provide ten times more protein per hectare than soybeans. www.wur.nl

Kromkommer is a foundation that has been encouraging minimizing foodwaste for a few years already. It started with producing soups from vegetables that were disapproved for human consumption because of their looks. The brand Kromkommer was used for this and characters were supporting its communication. In 2020 the foundation decided to launch
Project Eplucheur
The purpose of project Eplucheur is to extract value from the “waste” of the mango. The peels contain a lot of fibre and the kernels are a source of valuable oil. A research with Wageningen University has started with the aim to valorise this new value chain. yespers.com/eplucheur
